And in conclusion..... when it's all said & done....

SHEEP A MATCH FOR DINOSAURS
Thank you very much, ABC Kids, for putting Shaunee (Shaun the Sheep) back on. I think its so funny, so does Mummy. And I don't even mind that it's taken the place of A Bucketful of Dinosaurs which was my favourite program.

Sheep
HUDDLED, rain-drenched, forlorn they stood,
Their fleeces blown one way;
The wet wind cried in solitude
About the failing day.
Leaves whirled below, aloft; the sky
Sagged like a sodden shroud;
No stir of life, no pleading cry,
Came from the draggled crowd.
Sudden the western portals wide
Opened on that gaunt fold;
Then lo, a flock beautified
With fleeces dripping gold!

The Sheep and the Bramble-Bush
A THICK-TWISTED brake, in the time of a storm,
Seem'd kindly to cover a sheep:
So snug, for a while, he lay shelter'd and warm,
It quietly sooth'd him asleep.
The clouds are now scatter'd--the winds are at peace,
The sheep to his pasture inclin'd;
But ah! the fell thicket lays hold of his fleece,
His coat is left forfeit behind.
My friend, who the thicket of law never try'd,
Consider before you get in;
Tho' judgment and sentence are pass'd on your side,
By Jove, you'll be fleec'd to your skin.

Sheep Are Fluffy!
This is a harrowing story about the difficulties sheep face while living in modern society. The song is available as an mp3 at my website! It took me 8 days (about 50 hours) to film and edit from start to finish. The total budget for the movie was £27.53 for the six sheep and 6 large bags of cotton wool :DThe music for this movie is based on an e-mail conversation I had with my friend Mike. We discussed all sorts of things related to sheep in modern society, and this song is the result. The song was written by Mike (YouTube username 'groovymike83') but I have remixed it a bit, changing the structure and some of the lyrics.

Sheep in a Jeep Shaw, Nancy E
The whimsical, rhyming adventures of five silly sheep are in full motion as they attempt jeep-riding antics that will have little children rolling with laughter. The combination of a brief, rhythmic text, and the whimsical art is a winner.
Binding: Hardcover Book condition: VG-; Minor cover crease front ISBN:
0395470307
Houghton Mifflin. VG-; Minor cover crease front October 24, 1988. Paperback. 0/6 Book Weight (Lbs/Oz); 7.6 x 8.1 x 0.2 inches; 32 pages; Amazon--.

"Beep! Beep! Sheep in a jeep on a hill that's steep. "

This story, much like the jeep, gathers momentum from page one. When five foolish sheep cram into one jeep, their high spirits and occasional lack of foresight (like forgetting to steer) combine to make a riotous, if ill-fated, road trip. Plummeting over a hill, tumbling into a mud puddle.

Biblio.com AND Libraries....

Biblio.com, one of the world's largest suppliers of used, rare, and out-of-print books now links to OCLC WorldCat database. Biblio.com provides access to millions of additional book titles in WorldCat through the OCLC FirstSearch online reference service.

Libraries and their patrons can identify out-of-print, hard-to-find, used and rare books in WorldCat, the world's largest database of items held in libraries. From there, they can link to Biblio.com to purchase the items, as long as the library has enabled the optional link in the FirstSearch administrative module.

Additionally, when a book is not currently available on Biblio.com, customers will be linked to library holdings in WorldCat through the Open WorldCat program, which makes records of library-owned materials in WorldCat available to Web searchers in an effort to make libraries and their holdings more visible on the Web.

A Poem about sheep...

Over the hilltops and down in the glens, I noticed that sheep do not live in their pens; they cling to the mountains and high rocky tops: how on earth do they get there without their Reeboks?

If one of you found a gap in a stone wall,
the rest of you—rams, ewes, bucks, wethers, lambs;
mothers and daughters, old grandfather-father,
cousins and aunts, small bleating sons—
followed onward, stupid
as sheep, wherever
your leader’s sheep-brain wandered to.

Lambs
White ones, black ones
Running in the meadow
Growing wooly, mother watches.
Sheep!

The Truth is Out There ….. Trust No One!

Are we trading "ease of information" for "truth of information"? If there's something I want information about, my first port of call has always been books! However, schoolies are using the NET as their fundamental education resource and university students are plagiarising off the NET for their essays… If I was to say post online somewhere that electrons are bright purple and smell like a cross between orchids and a cowyard on a bad day, and manage to get it near the top of search engine results (too easy) how long before this is being quoted in chemistry, agriculture & horticulture papers, or, appears as a question in exams? This may be an extreme example... but there are some web pages out there spouting humbug that some people take as gospel!

INFORMATION WANTS TO BE FREE!!!!Wiki’s...A wiki is a work in process, created as an experiment of what a wiki can offer. This wiki is open to the general public to use as needed. This wiki is a place to find & contribute resource information. 1. A wiki must have a specific purpose.2. You can’t just offer a wiki to the public as a blank slate and expect people to add to it. Even when the wiki has a specific purpose, it’s good to create some sort of structure so that people will feel comfortable posting. We’re all accustomed to websites controlled by a higher authority, so it’s good to give people a basic blueprint for adding content. They can always post whatever they want and can change the structure of the wiki later on, but it can be difficult to get people to start posting without any structure.3. It’s good to add some content to the wiki before making it public. People get nervous if they’re the first person posting to a wiki and they don’t know if they’re posting the right sort of content. It’s good to give them some sense of what “should” be there, even when there is no “should.”4. You need to make it very clear that people can add whatever they want to the wiki or they’ll ask you to do it instead of doing it themselves. People don’t want to step on anyone else’s toes.5. If your name is on the wiki, some people will email you assuming that you wrote everything on it or that you are an authority on the subject. It’s good to make it clear that they should only ask you technical questions about the wiki.6. It is amazing to watch what a wiki can become. It can really really blow your mind how many people put so much effort into the wiki and how many people used it as a reference. Heady stuff!

What was the library of the past? A symbol of a society that cared about its attainments, that treasured ideas, that looked ahead multiple generations. Librarians were stewards, trainers, intimate with the knowledge base and the minds who produced it. Librarians today are not just inventory management biobots: they are people with a unique understanding of the documents they compile and catalog, and the relationships among those documents.

What are libraries? Libraries are not just collections of documents and books, they are conversations, they are convocations of people, ideas, and artifacts in dynamic exchange. Libraries are not merely in communities, they are communities: they preserve and promote community memories; they provide mentors not only for the exploration of stored memory, but also for the creation of new artifacts of memory.

I don’t think there’s any question that we librarians are working hard, with the best intentions, to serve our patrons well in a world that has changed dramatically in the last decade. If the profession is a boat, then I think we’re all rowing pretty heroically. But I’m not sure we’re paying enough attention to the potential disasters that lie in our current path.

del.icio.us...social bookmarking

The Several Habits of Wildly Successful del.icio.us UsersUs.ef.ul (A beginner’s guide to The Next Big Thing) First things first.. del.icio.us is a place where you can store your bookmarks and get to them from anywhere you can find an internet connection... so infact del.icio.us is pretty handy I don’t need Bookmarks anymore....

» all your bookmarks in one place & access them from anywhere
» bookmark things for yourself & share with friends
» check out what other people are bookmarking & discover new sites from the delicious community (browse, find, get recommendations).

Tags - a word you use to describe bookmarks. Unlike folders, you make up tags when you need them and you can use as many as you like. The result is a better way to organize your bookmarks and a great way to discover interesting things on the Web.

Research - Writing an article? Researching an industry? Slaving away on your dissertation? Use del.icio.us to keep track of all the source materials and commentary that you find online.
